EARACHE & DEICIDE: A Match Made In Bloody Hell
November 5, 2002FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Earache Records is proud to announce its newest signing: DEICIDE. Known the world over as one of the founding fathers of Death Metal, DEICIDE stand strong to this day as one of the most influential and controversial metal bands ever. With a relentlessly brutal sound and uncompromisingly blasphemous lyrics, DEICIDE set the standards for Death Metal well over a decade ago and have maintained those standards ever since.
Emerging out of the Tampa, Florida scene in the late 80's, DEICIDE released their blistering self-titled debut album in 1990 on the once-metal Roadrunner Records. The follow-up, 1992's "Legion", was an instant Death Metal classic that occupies a permanent place on many a critic's and fan's all time top ten list. Through four subsequent studio albums, DEICIDE progressively honed their vicious attack, reaching new levels of brutality and precision. In that time, DEICIDE toured the world many times over, playing countless shows and releasing one live album.
Throughout their long career, DEICIDE have consistently defined the rebellious spirit of Death Metal. Anti-establishment to the core, DEICIDE embody the worst fears of the conservative masses. Inciting protests from Christian groups, animal-rights activists, and PC watchdogs, DEICIDE have carved out their own, fiercely independent path through the world, joining that very small and elite group of metal acts to sell over a million records in the process. In the face of censorship, bomb threats, blacklistings from clubs and magazines, and feuds with a slew of special interest groups, DEICIDE have soldiered on and used such adversity to fuel their creative fire, never once quitting or reforming.
Earache US boss Al Dawson had this to say about the DEICIDE signing: "I am very proud to be working with DEICIDE, 'the most evil band in the world.' These guys have stood the test of time and they continue to lead the way. They are the real deal. Earache's roster has never been stronger than it is today."
DEICIDE embark on a headlining European tour this week. Upon their return to Tampa, the band will begin work on their Earache debut.
